At 10 a.m. on October 13, 2024, the 7th Washington Friendship Track and Field Games, hosted by the Chinese Alumni Associations of Greater Washington (CAAGW), officially kicked off at the Winston Churchill High School stadium in Maryland.
Led and organized by Yuge Cheng, the Fudan delegation—comprising 12 alumni and their family members—participated in the opening ceremony parade. Soon after, under the bright autumn sun, the various competitions kicked off in full swing.
Athletes from the Fudan team participated in a wide range of events across multiple age groups, including the 100m, 400m, 800m, 3200m, 4x100m relay, 4x100m ping pong ball relay, and long jump. In the end, they took home numerous medals. The highlights included a gold medal in the men’s 4x100m relay and a silver medal in the women’s 4x100m relay—both among the most competitive events of the day.
