On September 8, the Fudan Alumni Association successfully held its 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival and Welcome Gathering at Cabin John Regional Park. Nearly 30 new and longtime alumni came together in a joyful, lively atmosphere. Many of the attendees were younger schoolmates currently studying at major universities in the DMV area, such as Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland.
President Jie Yong gave a detailed introduction to the history and current status of the Fudan University Alumni Association of Greater Washington, D.C., as well as the current members of the executive committee. He also shared that the association will soon be organizing a series of upcoming events, including hiking trips, track and field meets, and a New Year snack gathering, and warmly encouraged all alumni to take part.
Vice President Xuan Xu introduced the major biomedical professional associations in the Greater Washington area and their upcoming events, sparking great interest among alumni in related fields.
All attending alumni took turns introducing themselves. The younger alumni, full of anticipation for their new journeys, engaged in conversations with one another and sought advice from the more experienced alumni. In turn, the senior alumni warmly shared their insights and experiences on a wide range of topics, including academics, daily life, job hunting, and financial planning.
This gathering was co-hosted by the Fudan Alumni Association and alumni associations from over ten other universities in the Greater Washington area, including the University of Macau, East China University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University, Nankai University, Tongji University, Zhejiang University, University of Science and Technology of China, Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology (CAS), China Pharmaceutical University, and Xiangya Medical College. The event drew more than 200 participants in total.
